Badges Information
The Swimmer’s ‘journey through aquatics’ starts with Foundation, a programme for developing early years water confidence, which is encouraged through sessions such as ‘parent and baby’ and ‘pre-school’ sessions. The emphasis is upon development of very basic motor skills and introduction to water and the swimming environment through fun and games. The ASA Duckling Awards provide rewards appropriate for this section.
The next stage along the journey takes a Swimmer through Fundamental Movement Skills; Stage 1 to 7 of the National Plan for Teaching Swimming. These are smaller stepping-stones for Swimmers who are not yet ready for Stage 1 of the NPTS and who may have additional needs requirements in order to progress into Stage 1 of the NPTS. The Awards range specific to this section is the ‘ASA Alpha Awards’.
For more information about timings of lessons and prices of our children's classes, please email the Academy Coordinator on bssa@bromsgrove-school.co.uk or telephone Bromsgrove School Sports Centre on 01527 572129.
Are you a qualified swimming teacher?
Have you ever thought about teaching children to swim?
If you have a passion for the teaching of swimming that matches ours and would be interested in joining the BSSA teaching staff then we’d love to hear from you. You don’t have to be qualified: We will invest in your training if you have the right attitude and mind-set.
In particular, we would love to hear from you if you have a qualification in the teaching of babies and toddlers but all enquiries are welcome.
In the first instance contact Shaun Camden – Head Coach on bssa@bromsgrove-school.co.uk
