All children, from Nursery through to the end of Year 2 receive a weekly Music lesson from our specialist music teacher. Children enjoy singing together, exploring a range of percussion instruments and listening to different musical styles. They are encouraged to talk about music using the correct terminology and are taught progressive skills, covering many different aspects of music.
Performances throughout the School Year include the Harvest Service, the Christmas Nativity and the whole School Advent Service. At the end of Year Two, pupils are involved in a special Leavers' Service in the Senior School Memorial Chapel.

Children also enjoy sharing their Creative Curriculum topics through special Assemblies in front of family and friends. Towards the end of their time in Pre-Prep, our Year Two children put on a wonderful show held in Cobham Theatre.

Our pupils are given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument in After-School clubs which are taught by specialist instrumental teachers, giving them the best possible start into music making.
Violin or Cello: Currently, there are violin group lessons for Year 1 and Year 2 pupils and cello lessons for Year 2. Early application is recommended as there has been great interest in subscribing to these classes.

Percussion/ P-Buzz: We also offer P-Buzz club which is a fun first step into brass playing, as well as a percussion club. If you'd like to find out more about instrumental lessons at Pre-Prep, please contact the School Office.

Fife: Fife lessons are available after school for Year 2 pupils and provide an excellent and fun way to start learning a musical instrument. Instruments and books are provided and the group play ensemble pieces in assembly.
