Summer Term - 27th April 2017
Last Updated: 28/04/2017 09:10:53
It has been wonderful to welcome the children back to Page House after the Easter Break. We hope you all had an enjoyable three weeks. All children have now unpacked and settled into their new rooms.
There have been some extensive works undertaken during the holidays. As you might have already have seen when dropping you son/daughter off last week, there has been major work to the car par as part of the Prep School redevelopment. We have also had four new boilers installed in the White House that will now hopefully supply endless hot water to all the rooms.
We have welcomed two new Year 3 boys Andile Zulu and Morgan Kirkden-Smith into the House this term. For two such young children they have adjusted very quickly into life in the Boarding House. I must however say, all the children have been excellent in helping Andile and Morgan familiarise themselves with the House, routines and join our Page House family.
Alex Li has been given our Page House Star award, Mrs Deval-Reed received a very complimentary letter from a passenger who was on the same flight home as Alex. The lady wrote that for such a young boy travelling alone, he was polite, friendly and very courteous. He helped some fellow passengers who were a little confused about boarding gates and from a parent’s perspective, she thought he was a real credit to the school. This makes us all very proud Alex.
During the break, we purchased some Go Karts to help encourage the children to play more outside. These are proving to be very popular with the girls and boys and the children are enjoying riding around the school campus and playing on these.
Caroline and Miss Smith have already had a turn on the go karts and Mr Sutherland is looking forward to half term to enable him to go racing around the grounds with his girls.
April seems to be a very popular month for birthdays and we have already had six parties since the children have returned.
On Sunday afternoon, the children enjoyed an afternoon in the sun playing rounders and it was even warm enough to have an ice-lollies after a hard-fought match.
Thank you again for your continued support,
Caroline and Tony

As we approach the half term break Caroline and I would to share with you what the children have been doing recently. In School it has been a busy start to the term, all the children have been working hard.
On Sunday the 29th January we took over 30 of the children to Air Space, a giant trampoline arena in Wolverhampton. The children spent over 2 hours participating in a variety activates including a version of the TV show Ninja Warrior. All the children had a wonderful day out and Mr Perry-Evens commented on their return on the excellent behaviour of all the children.
Last Sunday a number of the boys and girls went ten pin bowling in Worcester. This proved to be a very competitive afternoon of bowling.
On Tuesday the youngest member of our house Aarush stood up in Chapel in front of all the Y3, 4 & 5 pupils to sing Emeli Sande’s Read All About It. His performance was flawless and brought Caroline to tears with pride. Aarush was rewarded for his performance with a medal which he proudly shows off below.
Please see the below picture of the unnamed clothes we have amassed in the short 5 weeks since we have returned to school after the Christmas holidays. As most the children struggle to identify their own clothes, we will put these on display in the Common Room when you collect your son/daughter on Friday afternoon. Could we therefore please request that all clothes brought back to the House after the break are clearly labelled. To help with the mammoth task of sorting the clothes, and to ensure that the children receive all their washing when it returns from the laundry, please label items in either the collar of any tops and in the back of the waist band of any bottoms.
Please do not forget boarders’ parents’ evening this Friday from 4.30pm – 5.30pm in the Prep School.
We hope you have a wonderful half term holiday.
Thank you once again for your continued support.

It is hard to believe just how quickly the first two weeks of the new term have flown past. The children have now settled back into life in the House very well. We have five new boarders in Page this term Justin Fung, Ryan Bradley, Jack Ma, Kasemi Wikoma and Lily-Mae Wood. We also have Sanghyup Lee boarding with us for one term from our sister school in Thailand. His sister Dayon was with us last year and we hope he enjoys his stay with us as much as she did. The children have made them so welcome and are enjoying looking after them and being their buddies.
Last weekend we enjoyed our first boarders’ trip of the new year, Go Karting. We had planned to take all the children Ice Skating but with only four children wanting to participate in this trip we decided to make alternative arrangements. The four wanting to go Ice Skating did still manage go with the Senior School group. After speaking to the children to find out what they would prefer to do for their activity, we quickly organised Go Karting. This proved to be a much more popular option with over thirty children signing up.
On Sunday, we held our House table tennis and pool competitions. These always prove to be very popular with the children as everyone wants the bragging rights to being the best in the House. We split the House into two groups, Years 4, 5 & 6 taking part in the junior competition and Years 7 & 8 in the seniors. With so many close matches we did not manage to complete the senior competition and will continue with these this week. Rohan Adams won the junior table tennis in a closely fought match against Daniel Vassell. Sophia Mills won the junior pool competition, beating all the boys in her year group.
We would like to thank Mr Wood for donating an Air Hockey Table to the house. The children have not stopped playing on it since it was delivered.
This weekend the children are looking forward to a trip to Air Space, a giant trampoline park. If you have not already signed and returned the special permissions form enabling Caroline and I to sign on your behalves, I will be requesting your child contacts to the complete the online disclaimer. If you are happy for us to complete this for you and you have not yet returned the special permission form, I have reattached this for you to do so.
Thank you once again for your continued support.

It is nice to have the children back in the house after their half term break. They all seem refreshed and ready for the remainder of the term.
We’ve had a number of birthday parties last month, all the children invited some friends to join them for pizza and cake.
The Year 8 pupils joined the Senior School on a shopping trip to the Bullring, this trip always proves to be very popular. The boys in the House are always first to sign up for this trip, I think they are more interested in finding places to eat rather than the shopping experience.
A larger number of the children participated in our final trip before the half term break, they all had a fun filled Sunday paint balling. They also enjoyed a BBQ lunch before playing two further games in the afternoon, for these final games the children joined in with the Senior School pupils.
In the final days before the half term break, we held our Halloween party, Miss On the final Thursday before half term we had our House Halloween party. Miss Smith & I decorated the White House and we all had a treat of pizza and party food for dinner. All the children enjoyed dressing up and made a great effort with their costumes. Aarush even managed to get his 30 minutes of reading prep done in his costume. Best dressed (which was so hard to choose) went to Sophia Mills and Noah Rogers.
We also played some traditional Halloween party games consisting of apple bobbing, donut on a string and best dressed mummy!
Please see the attached copy of the School Trips Consent Form
, if you would be so kind as to complete this and return it to Tony at your earliest convenience at firstname.lastname@example.org
. This will then enable either Tony or myself to sign consent forms on your behalf for your son/daughter to participate in school trips. This will hopefully save you having to email us with your consent for every trip. We will, however, still ask the children to contact you for permission and to let you know which trips they would like to go on.
Tony and I are still concerned about the amount of time some of the children spend on their electrical devices, and phones in particular. On Monday evening we will be talking to the Year 8 children about this and reminding them of the dangers of the internet.
Thank you again for your continued support.

Michaelmas Term - 30th September 2016

I think we are now slowly starting to settle back into Page House after our long Summer Break! We have welcomed twenty-four new children into the house this year. We have also appointed two new Heads of House - Nancy Roberts and Guy Wagstaff, and twelve new monitors: Gordon Wong, Sam Kwan, Ian Chan, Dan Goodwin, Matthew Burke, Izzy Scott, Lorelei Allden, Nicole Fildes-Smith, Daisy Wenn and Assica Thapa.
At the start of each year we allocate each new boarder with a “buddy” to help them settle into the House and understand the daily routines. This year we decided to reward the “Best Buddies’ with a tea of their choice (always pizza!!!!). However as we felt all the children had contributed so well to helping the new members of our House settle in, we treated the whole House to a Pizza night for all their good work in being very supportive to all our new boarders. Eve Sewell and Hriyaj Gurung received an extra treat for being the Best Buddies in the house. They both went above and beyond making sure their buddies were well looked after. Ian Chan was awarded Star Boarder for all the help he gave a new boarder.
Already a lot has been going on. Last weekend 39 of the children had an amazing day out at Alton Towers. They managed to have a go on most of the rides and enjoyed every minute. Lots of them came back with soft toys and memorabilia from their day out. We also thought they would come back very tired. We were so wrong…… We would like to thank the teachers and Graduate teachers who did a great job looking after them all on the trip.
We have already celebrated a couple of birthdays, Vincent Li and Pranisha Gurung invited five friends to join them for their birthday party in the house.
The boys are currently outshining the girls with their baking skills this term. Some of the year 6 & 7 boys made some really delicious chocolate brownies which they shared out at film night. Rhianna Hodgson made some muffins this weekend so we have not been short of treats this week. Mary Berry would be very proud and we hope to have some star bakers in the house very soon.
Ian Chan has made the School swimming squad and Mr Jones has praised him for this tremendous achievement he has made over the last twelve months. Ian has his first race of the year this week so we wish him the best of luck in this.
Thank you again for your continued help and support.
