National Finals awaits Hockey Team

Well done to the U13 girls' hockey team who have qualified for the IAPS National hockey finals after coming third in the Regional tournament yesterday.

Bromsgrove started well with a 1-1 draw in their first group match against a strong Winchester House team. In their next game, the girls played some excellent attacking hockey to beat The Downs 4-0. In their final group match, Bromsgrove showed great determination to secure a 2-1 victory over Northampton High School. This meant that Bromsgrove finished in second place in their group and qualified for the quarter-finals.

The girls faced local rivals The Elms in the quarter-finals and produced their best hockey of the day to win 4-0 in just eleven minutes. Bromsgrove were drawn against St Hugh’s in the semi-final (who are undefeated this season) and despite their best efforts, the girls lost this match 2-0. After a long and tiring day Bromsgrove had to regroup and motivate themselves for the 3rd/4th playoff against Winchester House, who they had drawn with in the group stages. The girls played brilliantly, attacking with height and width, and defending as team to win 2-1 and secure third place.
