The Chicken races again

On Wednesday 24th of September the Greenpower Race team took the new look electric car to Aintree race circuit in Liverpool. Sporting a faster sprocket and the best accessory or modification to date - a full body chicken outfit worn all day by Ed Shinner.
On arrival, other teams were whispering that The Chicken was the car to beat as it was theoretically the fastest Kitcar at the event.
After a successful practice session, The Chicken lined up for the first race, and after being 25th on the grid, moved into 8th.
After several laps they moved up to 4th in the race (and first in the Kitcar category) but unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be as Bromsgrove's first driver made a mistake and crashed into some cones. This pushed The Chicken down the leader board to 24th which had also affected the Kitcar standings.
The Bromsgrove team changed drivers, plugged on but never really caught up after this and completed the first race 24th and 12th in the Kitcar Category.
Before race 2 they downsized the cog and fitted two new front tyres as the Aintree Circuit had destroyed the old ones. Brook Rotheroe needs special mention for undertaking the motor change within the hour which is no mean feat for someone who has only done this once before.
As the 2nd race was about to start, The Chicken lined up on the starting grid with high hopes of a better race. Throughout the race they moved into the lead and then fell back a spot due to pit changes and in the last 10 minutes, they lost most battery power allowing the others to reel them in and overtake.
Bromsgrove finished the race 2 in a respectable 14th place out of 40, and 4th in the Kitcar Category out of 20.
Although The Chicken didn’t win the Kitcar category, they were awarded the trophy for best portfolio submitted, earning the right to race in the international finals in Goodwood at the start of October where they will be up against cars from America, Poland and Ireland to name but a few.
Well done to the team of Ed Shinner, Brook Rotheroe, Alex Spurgen, James Bromley, Aled Luckman and new comer Toby Lam.
