End of Michaelmas Term - December 2022

Dear Parents

It has been a tough term. Many of the girls have been struggling with coughs and colds and yet they just seem to muddle through. They all work incredibly hard. I am sure you are very proud them. They all have special talents, and they deserve to be congratulated. However, when they come together as a House, they are a community and a team. The TC team have been very successful this term.

This support and community spirit can be as simple as a friendship, secret Santa, decorating their study (well done to the Lower Fourth), and perhaps TC families. House Song was a wonderful example of their talents, where everyone sang together beautifully and produced harmonies as a group. I would like to thank Jessica Whitlock, Sophia Meadows, Charlotte James and Anya Sanikop for all their work in the quest for success in House Song. There have also been lots of other musical events this term. The Christmas Pop and Jazz was a particularly fun event were many of the TC girls were involved and produced some really wonderful music.

As a House, the girls have worked hard for charity. The girls raised over £300 in the Macmillan cake sale. They also put together over eight shoes boxes this term.

In sport, TC has excelled. I do not think we have ever won as many House events in the Michaelmas Term. Hockey was amazing! TC won every team and every age group. I would like to thank Tilly Wilkins and Katie Murray for putting together the teams. The House also excelled at swimming. Swimming is not perhaps every teenage girls’ first sport but many of the TC girls supported each other and the House entered two very strong teams. I would like to thank Martha Cross and Amelia Wise for all their work on these teams. TC won all the swimming competitions.

Drama has been brilliant this term. The Senior School play had many members of the cast from Thomas Cookes. These were Isla Chattin, Amelia Rowe, Emily Collett, Jessica Whitlock, Anya Sanikop, Paris Siviter and Serisha Sunner. All of the girls performed outstandingly and were very convincing in their roles. I would also like to make a special mention to Charlotte James who did much of the technical work behind the play. This must have been a considerable amount as there were many changes and new sequences. It all seemed to go without a hitch. Many congratulations to them all.

As we approach the holiday season. I have asked the girls to make the most of the time with their families. I do hope that you have a wonderful time together as Christmas approaches.

Lorraine, the TC Housekeeper, has taken some medical leave this term, but we are all delighted that she is now back fit and well.

I would also like to thank the tutors. They are the girls’ constant support and are always there to listen. I would also like to thank them for their support as TC would not run without them.

Finally, I would like to thank the TCPA. We had a seasonal Mulled Wine and Minced Pies event on Wednesday. I would like to thank all of the parents for their support but also the PA who did much of the work behind the scenes. We are approaching the TC Ball in March 2023. I would like to thank them for all of the organisation that is going into this event.

Thank you so much for all your gifts. Please stay warm and safe this Christmas.

Kind regards
Kay Hannah
