The most important element of any school should be the quality of its pastoral care.

We want our pupils to be safe and happy, whatever their aspirations and abilities. On a physical level, a superb Health Centre staffed 24 hours a day, excellent staff-pupil ratios, Chaplain, counsellor, student listeners and house mothers ensure pastoral care is delivered in all areas of School life. However, the ethos of the School is greater than the sum of its parts, and we teach that tolerance and compassion are not virtues: they are necessities. Close relationships between pupils and tutors reinforce this message, as does the fact that the School eats centrally (apart from the evening meal in Housman Hall) and meets as a School every week.

We are a community in which every individual must recognise the individuality of others and thus respect the resulting richness that makes this diverse pupil body so special.
