Bromsgrove Badge

Bromsgrove Badge is programme designed as an introduction to outdoor pursuits and citizenship for pupils aged 13-14 on Tuesday afternoons. Lower Sixth pupils have the opportunity to assist with this programme for one year as a helper, devoting over an hour per week helping younger pupils with their learning.

Sessions include map skills work, navigation skills, citizenship and camp craft. In addition, in June, there is the opportunity to help with the residential Lower Fourth Camp. This is a three day overnight camp for younger pupils based in the Forest of Dean. Sixth form helpers play a key role in supervising and supporting younger pupils. They assist with monitoring behaviour, providing support and guidance throughout their stay to young pupils. They also help with meal times and assist teachers with the safe and smooth running of the camp.

Both of these opportunities are an excellent way of developing key leadership and communication skills and are positions of responsibility.
