U11 IAPS Hockey National Finals
Posted: 04/03/2022
We set off for the IAPS U11 boys’ National Hockey Finals at Rugby School with spirits high, despite some typically March-like weather. Our group stages were well fought and we lost just one game, our first, to Barrow Hills from Surrey. We continued with two wins over Great Walstead and Sherborne and two draws against Cheltenham and Langley Prep. This meant we finished third in our group of six to go through into the Plate competition.
In the next round, we came up against a strong team in the shape of Taunton Prep, and after no score after the golden goal period, it went to flicks. All three of our boys scored theirs (Jyanas G, Dan D and Toby K).
In the semi-final, we played Fettes School from Scotland but unfortunately lost to an early goal. Our 3rd / 4th place play off saw us draw Clifton (a repeat of the regional finals, which we had previously won). This time, however, the honour went to Clifton with just a few minutes remaining of the golden goal period. Special mention goes to Isaac C in this game for some truly outstanding keeping.
Well done to all the boys and to Mr Harris for guiding and supporting the team with such positivity and energy.
