Restart a Heart

An important lesson took place on Tuesday, 16th October for the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Restart a Heart’ day. Organised and run by Bromsgrove parent and paramedic, Lady Sham Porter, more than 300 Prep pupils were taught basic CPR using first aid dummies. Lady Porter was supported by Jeff Doak from the police service at the morning sessions and Dr Nick Crosbie during the afternoon.
The British Heart Foundation say that there are over 30,000 cardiac arrests across the UK which occur outside of hospital every year, but the survival rate is less than 1 in 10. Without CPR the chances of surviving cardiac arrest are zero.
It is hoped that the basic training our Prep pupils have been given will stay with them, and potentially save lives.
