Delving into the Archives

Delving into the Archives

This morning, pupils in Year 3 enjoyed an interesting visit to the Old Chapel to learn about the School’s links with polar exploration. They learned about Old Bromsgrovian Reginald Skelton, who was part of Captain Scott’s crew on the Discovery Expedition of 1901-4 and about Bromsgrove School’s sponsorship of Peary, one of the dogs. They enjoyed looking at an array of interesting items from the School’s archives, including the old School register, a selection of photographs and - most exciting of all - one of the original sledges from the expedition itself!

Many thanks to Ms Thorpe, School Archivist and Historian for sharing such a fascinating part of the history of our School with the children.
