Michaelmas Term - 30th September 2016

Dear Parents

I think we are now slowly starting to settle back into Page House after our long Summer Break! We have welcomed twenty-four new children into the house this year. We have also appointed two new Heads of House - Nancy Roberts and Guy Wagstaff, and twelve new monitors: Gordon Wong, Sam Kwan, Ian Chan, Dan Goodwin, Matthew Burke, Izzy Scott, Lorelei Allden, Nicole Fildes-Smith, Daisy Wenn and Assica Thapa.

At the start of each year we allocate each new boarder with a “buddy” to help them settle into the House and understand the daily routines. This year we decided to reward the “Best Buddies’ with a tea of their choice (always pizza!!!!). However as we felt all the children had contributed so well to helping the new members of our House settle in, we treated the whole House to a Pizza night for all their good work in being very supportive to all our new boarders. Eve Sewell and Hriyaj Gurung received an extra treat for being the Best Buddies in the house. They both went above and beyond making sure their buddies were well looked after. Ian Chan was awarded Star Boarder for all the help he gave a new boarder.

Already a lot has been going on. Last weekend 39 of the children had an amazing day out at Alton Towers. They managed to have a go on most of the rides and enjoyed every minute. Lots of them came back with soft toys and memorabilia from their day out. We also thought they would come back very tired. We were so wrong…… We would like to thank the teachers and Graduate teachers who did a great job looking after them all on the trip.

We have already celebrated a couple of birthdays, Vincent Li and Pranisha Gurung invited five friends to join them for their birthday party in the house.

The boys are currently outshining the girls with their baking skills this term. Some of the year 6 & 7 boys made some really delicious chocolate brownies which they shared out at film night. Rhianna Hodgson made some muffins this weekend so we have not been short of treats this week. Mary Berry would be very proud and we hope to have some star bakers in the house very soon.

Ian Chan has made the School swimming squad and Mr Jones has praised him for this tremendous achievement he has made over the last twelve months. Ian has his first race of the year this week so we wish him the best of luck in this.

Thank you again for your continued help and support.

Caroline and Tony
