Work experience is increasingly difficult to obtain and the school no longer runs a programme for year 11 students.  Experience/Taster courses allow the student to investigate career/study opportunities in a safe environment with specialist course leaders.  The courses vary from half day events to residential placements at universities and companies.  These events also add to the personal statement that the student sends to university.

THE YEAR IN INDUSTRY – Opportunity for work placements
The year in Industry is a GAP year scheme which organises degree-related) science, IT, engineering and business disciplines) placements for bright, motivated students during their gap year.

YINI provides a challenging and enjoyable year working in industry, both locally and throughout the UK invaluable practical experience in preparation for your degree. Paid employment (annual salaries range from £8,500 to £14,000) Enhanced degree results and graduate employment prospects. Prospects of holiday work and sponsorship through university 26% of former students gain a first class honours degree.
