For many years now, Bromsgrove has been a major force at both girls and boys hockey, at regional and national level. A brief look back over the last ten years at under 18 level sees the girls winning the National Outdoor competition from 1996 - 2000, the National Indoor competition in 1998/9, 2000/1, and achieving runners up status in 1999/00. The Boy's regularly get to the U18 National Indoor finals, having been Runners up in 2001/2, 2004/5, and runners up in 2003/4 at Under 16 level. And the outdoor sides always progress to the later stages of the Regional rounds outdoor, across all three age groups.

Bromsgrove has a fixture list that boasts many top sides; Repton, Rugby, Trent College, Wrekin, Oakham, Uppingham, Oundle, and teams further afield such as Dean Close, Cheltenham College, Cheltenham Ladies, Marlborough, and Millfield. Such fixtures give us the playing experience to run national and international tours on a regular basis. Teams have recently been to Germany, Holland and Australia; three major powers in World Hockey.

Hockey teams run from Lower Fourth to Upper Sixth.  There are at least two teams in each year group and a development squad for the Lower and Upper Fourth.  This allows pupils of all standards to reach their full potential. All teams play regular Saturday matches as well as some midweek fixtures against a host of other leading public schools.  On top of this, the pupils are involved in various county, regional and even national competitions.  The school’s coaching staff have all played at an international level and rotate regularly around all the teams. There is also summer hockey for boys and girls to play together, in a more relaxed environment.

The School now has club links with National league sides, Cannock, Stourport, and Olton Ladies, in which both pupils, and coaches play for 1st X1 sides regularly.
