July 7th 2008
Dear Parents,
I sat down to write the Final House Assembly of the year last week and in doing so, it struck me what an outstanding year of achievement it has been in Lupton House. And it was on Friday before the Church Service rehearsal, in casting my eye over the boys sat at the front of St. John’s that I felt a real sense of pride; the Lupton boys had completed the year with tremendous spirit, loyalty and a real sense of belonging. I write now to give a summary of the achievements during the final week of term and year.

This took place on Wednesday afternoon, and the following were awarded for their commitment to school sports teams.

Outstanding Contribution to the Arts: Michael Palmer, Michael Pearce
Congratulations to all the winners and the others who were so committed but not recognised with awards. The above list really does highlight what a vastly talented a committed bunch the Lupton boys are.

Commemoration 2008
The weather was kind; the St. John’s Service moving and so relevant; Humphrey Walters at prize-giving was inspirational; fun and games down at the pavilion, and of course Final Call Over a sight to behold. It was a tremendous occasion – one of the best I can recall. It was great to see so many of you enjoying the day; it does tend to fly by so quickly! Lupton achievement was once again recognised at prize-giving. James Skinner was presented with the Wattell Prize for Religious Studies. Head Boy Simon Gummer and his Deputy Henry Newman were awarded the special prize for their respective positions. But it was Michael Pearce who stole the show, winning the Turner Memorial Prize for Music and the Ben Showell Memorial Rose Bowl, recognising an outstanding contribution to Bromsgrove music and an immense talent. Congratulations to all, but especially Michael for a glittering school career – we wish him well at the Royal Northern next year.

Final House Assembly
We unfortunately said goodbye to a member of the staff tutor team during Final House Assembly. Miss Andrea Alexander was rightly recognised in the final Routh Hall Assembly of the year by the Headmaster as making a very significant contribution to the Design and Technology department and its results over the last few years. Not only this, but the contribution she has made to the whole common room is immeasurable. “Miss A” is the life and soul of what is going on not only in the House but in the staff room as well. Any staff social is usually organised by her! As a tutor in Lupton she has had a tremendous impact since she arrived in September 2003 from King Edwards School, Camp Hill. Forever interested in not just her own tutees but the whole House, it is very obvious that teaching and tutoring is not just a job for Miss A, but a vocation – she is passionate about furthering and pushing pupils as academics and people. Always smiling, her happy and enthusiastic nature will be missed by us all next year. Our loss is most definitely the RSA Academy’s gain. She moves to this very exciting new project just down the road in the Black Country as an Assistant Headteacher – a very well deserved move up the ladder. The one downfall of the move is that she has to work with another Mr Greetham – my father – who also works there!
Countess Pennies
These are awarded to one pupil in each year group who have involved themselves in all things Lupton throughout the term and who enjoy positive relationships with others – it is the House Endeavour Award.
Lower Fourth – James Widdop
Upper Fourth – Stuart Clare
Fifth Form – Jack Eastgate
Lower Sixth – Robin Hadley
Upper Sixth – Adam Kanas
House Ties
Junior House ties were awarded to Jean-Claude Massey, James Widdop (both L4), Michael Boszko and Luke Stewart (both U4). A senior tie was awarded to Ben Hornsey. Well done to all – these reflect commendation awards in both academic subjects and House achievement.
Commendation Prizes
One pupil in each year group received an engraved pen and voucher, but more importantly the accolade of receiving the most commendations regardless of nature throughout the year. All the recipients therefore by definition are good all rounders –involved in the House, has probably received their fair share of Academic commendations and may have been so committed as to receive School commendations also.
Lower Fourth – Harry Heath (34)
Upper Fourth – Tom Silk (25)
Fifth Form – William Bolton, Jamie Rymer, Hugh Westlake (all 16)
Lower Sixth – Bobbie Lawrenson (14)
Upper Sixth – James Skinner (10)
Brazier Cup
This is Lupton’s top accolade and is awarded to the Upper Sixth Former who has contributed most to the House throughout their time at the School. Henry Newman has given his all to the House. He has embraced fully the House spirit of participation, loyalty and commitment, which ultimately made him the leading candidate for Head of House last year – a position he was subsequently given. Every task I have given him this year has been carried out superbly and then some. He has been a most superb role-model and director of all things Lupton not just this year, but throughout his School career. Key motivator for the House Song, 1st XI cricket captain and football captain, played in every House sports team, outstanding debater as well as appearing on stage in Pop and Jazz and Journey’s End, amongst other things. He will go out of his way to ask if he can help and is always supportive of others in the House. We wish him well next year and for his future career in business, football management, or as Mr Gummer rightly put it, as Alan Sugar’s next right hand man! Congratulations Henry.

House Monitor Team
The position of House Monitor is one which I take very seriously indeed. Next year’s Monitor Team are diverse in their talents and characters, and I know they will be a fantastic unit. I know also that they will hold the respect of the House and always have Lupton’s best interests at heart. The House Monitor team from September will be David Brookes, Robin Hadley, Andrew McIntosh, Tom Sarjant and Richard Waring. They will be ably led by new Head of House Matthew Grice and his deputy Bobbie Lawrenson. Congratulations to all.
The outgoing Head of House gave a vote of thanks to the tutor team and our wonderful Housekeeper Angela Gregory. The Upper Sixth presented them all with gifts to thank them for an outstanding years work. It was left to me to sum up and offer some advice from a book I could not put down during my trip to India at Easter.
“What would I do it today were my last? The key is to really get into the meaning of the question. Mentally list all the things you would do, the people you would call and the moments you would savour. See yourself doing these things with great energy. Visualise how you would treat your family and your friends. Even picture how you would treat total strangers if today was your last on the planet. When you live each day as if it were your last, your life will take on real sense and purpose.”
Next term we welcome two members of staff to the tutor team. Teacher of German Mrs Jo Spearing and new to the academic staff, Miss Emma Densem (Design Technology) join us in September.
So there it is, another year in Lupton. From Paintball to Greased Lightning; Fourth Form sporting success to the Corps of Drums and Llanwrtyd Wells; leg waxing for charity to Junior and Senior Instrumental Finals; all those tremendous PA functions to Twelfth Night, Journey’s End and The Country Wife; Michael at Pershore Abbey to Cox and Pons excelling in rugby; and from all those wonderful tutor meals out with the Sixth Form to all those prize winners over the Commemoration period. What a year in Lupton but I have a feeling there’s more just around the corner!
All the very best for a superb summer.
Best wishes,
Paul Greetham

30th June
Dear Parents,
I do hope to see many of you at Commemoration on Saturday – a most special day in the life of Bromsgrove School and the House. For new parents, the emotion and sight of Final Call Over is one to behold, particularly when your son finally leaves us. The full programme for next Saturday can be found on the School website – any questions to me – but in short, if you haven’t got tickets for the Service at St. Johns Church in the morning, then you will not get them now! However, all parents are welcome to Prize Giving Gordon Green – please be seated by 11.45am. Then parents are free to enjoy the afternoon up to Call Over, either taking lunch with the School PA (if ordered), or you may decide to bring your own picnic or barbecue as many do, and park up around the annual Commemoration Cricket match on the playing fields.
Lupton PA Summer Party
It was fantastic to see such a brilliant turn out last Sunday for our end of year party. The cricket match ended up a thrilling and exciting affair – but the right result. The boys won by one run - better luck next year dads! The lunch was stunning thanks to our PA committee and in particular Mrs Hadley and the bar was a roaring success, thanks to Mr & Mrs Jones. Following the match we enjoyed afternoon tea and I paid tribute to our Upper Sixth leavers. I also gave a vote of thanks to Mr Tim Newman who has chaired the PA committee for many years. I know we are all very grateful for all the work that he has done for Lupton over an extended period, and I hope he enjoys his trip to Vinopolis on the South Bank that we bought him as a thank you.

A full school report will be sent shortly to Fourth Form parents through the post, as well as Lower Sixth. The comments regarding Lower Sixth students will form the basis of their UCAS application and reference for next year’s University application process.
New Lower Fourth Induction
On Friday, we welcomed Upper Third (Yr 8) pupils to the House who will join us in September. They probably felt bombarded with information but it was an ideal opportunity for them to learn more about their new environment, and hear from key pupils and staff about the exciting times ahead. The new intake also sampled lessons led by academic staff. I was extremely encouraged by them, and it seems that a real mix of talented academics, musicians, sportsmen and even dancers are on their way. I look forward to seeing them grow from September.
Lower Fourth Camp
It was very clear from talking to the Lower Fourths that they all enjoyed their camp at Wye Dean Canoe and Adventure Centre based at Symonds Yat. Many pupils talk very fondly of this experience long after their time at the School, and many Lower Sixth Formers Matthew Grice, Tom Sarjant and David Brookes assisted this year. Whilst away, pupils also completed their Bronze practice expedition walk and camped at the Biblins campsite. Successful completion of the expedition counts towards their actual Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award which all of the Upper Fourth year group commence in September.

Return to School on Friday
Our Fifth and Upper Sixth Formers return on Friday. A couple of things to note – firstly, many academic departments are concerned over the lack of text books that have been returned since public examinations have finished. Parents / pupils will be billed for these if not returned so please remind your son to bring these in on Friday as there will be opportunity to return them to the respective department. Secondly, and sorry to stress this once more, but please could you take a good look at your son’s appearance on Friday morning before School!! School suits should be worn on both Friday and Saturday, hair should be tidy and not bleached (!!) and ties and top buttons firmly done up. I know I have your support on this.
Library books
Another item which may appear on your next bill is overdue library books. There is a long list of items overdue which have costs attached, please check with your son to see if there are any at home that need returning. A list of outstanding books and fines are on the main noticeboard in the House.
Examination Results
For public examination results in August, I will be on hand to discuss any issues resulting from them. Please use the House extension to get in contact with me, and if I do not pick up then I will get the message that day, as I will be in and out of School. Fingers crossed for all!
I think that’s it for now – the next time will sum up the term and year, and give details of end of term prizes.
Best wishes,
Paul Greetham

June 23rd
Dear Parents,
Closing in on the end of term and the House remains quiet with two year groups on exam leave, although most boys seemed to have finished by now. Whilst enjoying an abundance of free time, the boys should ensure that they know of any School commitments they may have between now and Commemoration. There are a few things, including School sports fixtures over the next couple of weeks. The L6th lecture programme appears to be going well – boys have been reminded that they are to be in school as normal every day however, and to follow their programme of lectures as selected. They also have an essay to write by the end of term.
Corps of Drums
The School’s Corps of Drums led the Court Leet through Bromsgrove Town Centre this morning. The House was well represented by Edmund Westlake, Michael Pearce (U6), William Wesson, Hugh Westlake, William Bolton (5th) and Rupert Harris (U4). Picture attached of one of the boys ready for the off!

Lupton Summer Party
Looking forward to seeing around 140 of you tomorrow at the pavilion. The weather looks like it will improve by tomorrow and the numbers are tremendous – must be a record! Thanks in advance for your support! Bring a chair and the cricket kicks off at 12pm, with lunch served from approx. 1.15pm.
Country Wife
The final dramatic production of the year takes place on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd July at 7.30pm in the Drama Studio. Our very own Smudge McIntosh stars and it promises a great deal.
Fencing
Daniel Holles (L4) did fantastically well last week at the U14 Inter Schools Fencing Tournament held at School. He won a Bronze Medal in the Boys Epee section – a brilliant achievement considering the amount of fencers entering. Well done Daniel!
Flying High!
Cadets of the RAF section recently completed their initial glider training at RAF Cranwell, which included our very own Sam Hornsey and Rupert Harris. They were introduced to the controls of the aircraft and have had an opportunity to fly the glider themselves over the Shropshire countryside. This was the first step towards becoming a fully fledged cadet glider instructor and they are now eligible to begin their gliding scholarship training where they will have the opportunity to fly the aircraft solo. Well done Sam and Rupert! On Friday sixteen more cadets began piloting the RAF tutor; the very same aircraft that fast jet pilots use to begin their flight training. They had the opportunity to take control of the aircraft and fly it themselves under the supervision of an instructor. They also experienced some high G-force aerobatics including loop the loops and barrel rolls! Things have changed since I was at school! What an opportunity!
Leavers Meal
The U6th join the tutor team and myself at The Vaults Restaurant, Birmingham on Tuesday 1st July for their farewell dinner. It is the start of what will be an emotional few days for them, ending at Call Over and the Leavers Ball on Saturday 5th July.
PA Commemoration Lunch
Can I please point you in the direction of the following webpage on the School website, and click on letters and mailings. It contains the School mailings regarding ordering tickets for the PA lunch on Commemoration Day. Not compulsory but well worth it. I have emailed these to you – but just in case I’ve been deleted!
http://www.bromsgrove-school.co.uk/welcome/EOT/DepHM_archive_letters.html
Pupil Appearance
I have generally been very pleased with the boy’s smartness and appearance throughout the year, however I would like a concerted effort over the next couple of weeks to ensure that we look superb for Commemoration. Hair might need a snip, shoes might need a polish, a new shirt might be on the cards for those who struggle to do their top button up!!!! Your support on this is very much appreciated. Don’t forget school suits for Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July.
Finally . . . .
It is that time of year when lots of pupils are out of School for one reason or another. A final plea of the year to keep calling the House between 8am and 8.20am if your son will be absent OR late, plus giving me plenty of notice for any planned absence from School for appointments, etc. Many thanks for your assistance with this – it makes the running of the House so much smoother.
I look forward to seeing the majority of you over the next couple of weeks.
Best wishes,
Paul Greetham

June 7th
Dear Parents,
I sincerely hope you had an excellent Bank Holiday and maybe even a break with your families. It is peak exam season at the moment, and the older members of the House are drifting in and out of the House discussing which questions they found hard or easy, and sharing their worries or tiny victories! The Lower Sixth year group are now back in School full time – they started their A2 courses on Thursday and have the lecture / extension week to look forward to from Thursday 19th June.
Internal Exams
Exams for Lower and Upper Fourth pupils begin this Monday and finish on Thursday. Tutors and myself have been working through effective revision methods and time management with the boys in House – hopefully you’ve seen some evidence of this at home! Of course, Upper Fourth boys have GCSE modules in Science and Business Studies – so it’s the real deal for some of them.
Summer 2 Grades
The last set of grades for fourth form pupils are published this week and should be on ePortal by the end of the week.
Junior House Cricket
The Junior House cricket team has reached the Final! This caps off a superb year of junior sport in the House – they have reached the Final of every major boys sport – rugby, hockey (won), football (won) and now cricket. We won the Lower Fourth Cross Country race back in October, as well as finishing second in the Junior race at the main Cross Country championships in February and their section of the Sports Day in May. We play Walters (again!) in the Cricket Final on Monday at 4pm. Good luck boys. I attach some photographs of the semi-final, where we defeated Elmshurst.

Lower Fourth Camp
Camp commences on Thursday 19th June with Camp One and Camp Two departs on Sunday 22nd June. You should have received details from the relevant parties, and I believe that all forms have now been handed in by Lupton boys – thank you for assisting with this! Camp is a real feature of pupil’s first year with us at Bromsgrove and I know that the Lupton boys will have a great time. I’m sure we’ll see a few pictures in due course!
PA Summer Party & Cricket Match
I sent out these details last week together with the booking form. I would appreciate replies sent back to me by Monday 16th June. This is an important date in the House calendar. I do sum up the year and pay tribute particularly to the U6th leavers. Mr Graham Silk is organising the cricket match for the day and he can be contacted on 07836 676932 or email him – g.hampsonsilk@btinternet.com. A few parents have raised the fact that Sunday 22nd June is also the day that one L4 camp group returns and the other leaves. We were aware of this, but unfortunately the pavilion is booked for our usually date of the final Sunday in the month. Looking at timings, it seems that the boys will be able to attend some of the function whether leaving or coming back that day.
Staff News
Miss Andrea Alexander unfortunately leaves us at the end of the academic year. She has been an outstanding tutor to many of the boys and her exuberance, enthusiasm and sense of fun will be missed. We will say our formal goodbye towards the end of the term, and the U6 leavers meal on Tuesday 1st July will double up as her farewell party too!
Pupil Appearance
I have generally been very pleased with the boys' smartness and appearance throughout the year, however I would like a concerted effort over the next couple of weeks to ensure that we look superb for Commemoration. Hair might need a snip, shoes might need a polish, a new shirt might be on the cards for those who struggle to do their top button up!!!! Your support on this is very much appreciated.
I look forward to catching up with many of you over the final few weeks of term.
Best wishes,

19th May
Dear Parents,
So two year groups have commenced their examination leave, and the other (U6) leaves us for the examination period from 4pm on Friday. I spoke to all exam year groups regarding the exam period last week, and in particular outlined that they are welcome in School to revise over the period of leave but in uniform and either in the library or house working. We do not expect that during lesson times pupils on examination leave are in school socialising, merely wandering around campus or playing recreational sport. Some pupils have ordered lunch on examination days – they must honour this request.
Summer 1 Grades
Commendations were awarded to the following for the recent grades.
House Commendations: Jean-Claude Massey, Rupert Harris, Jack Hartshorne, Richard Waring
School Commendations: Thomas Barwell, Harry Eastgate, Harry Heath, Declan Meddows, William Sarjant, Benedict Shinner, Wande Abimbola, Sam Hornsey, Ashley Jones, Sebastian Tanner, William Bolton, Matthew Cox, Jack Eastgate, Richard Heath, William Wesson, Hugh Westlake, Matthew Wix, David Brookes, Matthew Grice, Bobbie Lawrenson, Jonathan Field, Charles Jones, Adam Kanas, James Skinner.
Headmaster’s Commendations: Michael Cox, Andrew McIntosh
Well done to all!
School Monitors
Lupton House can be rightly proud this week, as two of the Lower Sixth were signed in as School Monitors. School Monitorship is the leading position of responsibility at Bromsgrove apart from the Heads of School. The School look to it’s Monitor team to set the right examples around School, assist staff in duties on a day to day basis and at major School events, and do everything possible to protect the ethos and standards of the School. I know that Matthew Grice and Bobbie Lawrenson will do all of that and more over the next few months – they are outstanding role models for the rest of the House and School to follow.
Fourth Form Play
The week ahead sees the Fourth Form production “The Winter of Discontent”. It takes place in the Drama Studio on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week and commences at 7.30pm. Our very own Rupert Harris stars – and I know he will do the House proud. Ticket enquiries to nbaldock@bromsgrove-school.co.uk
I refer to Mr Bowen’s newsletter this week for information on events over the Commemoration period. If for whatever reason you have not received it, then it is published on the School website also. He also refers to the recently announced production of “My Fair Lady” next March, for which I will be pushing the boys to audition for!
Best wishes,
Paul Greetham

12th May
Dear Parents,
It was superb to see so many families supporting our first summer PA event last Monday after Sports Day. It was a dry affair, thank goodness, and a great atmosphere. Many thanks once again to the whole committee, but particularly to Mrs Hinge and Mr King, as well as Mr & Mrs Hadley for their help with the preparation of food. Also to Mr & Mrs Jones and Mr & Mrs Clare for their sterling efforts behind the bar. PA events are a real highlight of Lupton life and we look forward to the grand Summer Party on June 22nd.
Summer 1 Grades
The fifth grades of the year were published this week and should now appear on your son’s ePortal page. Commendations will be announced on Tuesday at House Assembly. With the odd exception most year groups did very well on average.
House Athletics Competition
The word may have already got to you, however I’ll shout about it loudly – LUPTON OVERALL WINNERS OF SPORTS DAY! Captain Richard Waring picked up the Boys Trophy on Friday in Routh Hall Assembly, as well as Bobbie Lawrenson winning the U20 Victor Ludorum and Jordan Cooper, the U15 Victor Ludorum. Well done boys! The House won ten events across the three sections. Jordan Cooper won the 100m B race and the triple jump, and Harry Eastgate the javelin for the junior team. Tom King won the U17 shot. In the U20 section, there were wins for Bobbie Lawrenson (100m B and hurdles), Henry Newman (100m A), Jack Pons (200m), Richard Waring (1500m) and Jonny Allen (long jump). A terrific effort by all concerned – a mention also to Jean-Claude Massey who participated in the maximum amount of events and did exceptionally well in each. It’s been a while since the House has enjoyed this success on Sports Day – great stuff!

Exam Leave
All those who are granted exam leave over the next few weeks (5th and 6th Form) have been issued with instructions for their respective period. A brief summary is as follows:Chapel attendance is not compulsory before an examination – BUT LUNCH IS and has been booked for all concerned on the relevant days.
- Pupils on exam leave should be in school uniform at all times whenever they return to School, even for only part of the day. Pupils may be turned away from an exam if unsuitably attired.
- Sports fixtures – all pupils must fulfil School commitments. The PE department will ensure that all team members are aware of fixtures during the exam period.
- If pupils are at School during exam leave, pupils work in the library or House during lessons.
- Pupils should be at roll call in the House if they have a morning exam.
U3rd Parent’s Evening
U3rd Prep School pupils were represented last Wednesday evening by their parents, as current staff and pupils from the House met with parents of pupils transferring next year. After I had set the scene, pupils showed the parents round the House, before getting tucked into some cheese and wine. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and I am very optimistic of our new intake for 2008/9.
Signing in of School Monitors
The School Monitor team is “signed in” this Friday morning in Routh Hall. Interviews and the selection of the House Monitor team for 2008/9 will take place when the Lower Sixth return after their exam leave.
Commemoration
It is around this time of year that thoughts turn to the end of the School year and Commemoration. I would respectfully ask parents and pupils to ensure that the highest of standards of dress, appearance (including hair) and behaviour are maintained throughout the term, but particularly when the 5th and Upper Sixth Formers return into School on Friday 6th July. On very rare occasions in the past, School have been placed in the unfortunate position of excluding pupils from the Commemoration period due to a lack of respect for School rules and procedure. I fully expect that Lupton boys will maintain the high standards that they have demonstrated all year in this regard. Please excuse the formal tone, however for many, this will be their first Commemoration – and of course, for some – their last, and we all wish it to be a very special occasion.
Examination leave commences this Friday from 5pm for 5th and Lower 6th forms. Lower 6th are back in School on Thursday 5th June. Upper 6th form exam leave commences on Friday 23rd May at 3.35pm. 5th and U6th form return on Friday 4th July in School Suits.
Best wishes,
Paul Greetham
Housemaster
5th May
Dear Parents,
Sports Day & PA Barbecue
As you all know, Sports Day takes place this Monday 5th May between 2.30pm and 4.45pm at the Ryland Centre. Support is most welcome from parents to shout on the reds! Numbers are well over one hundred for the after sports barbecue at the House. Many thanks for your support in advance and I look forward to seeing the majority of you there for a burger!
GCSE Options
Lower Fourth pupils should now have handed in their option forms to Mr Dowling – deadline was Friday 2nd May.
Routh Hall Assembly
Some of the boys were invited on stage for various different awards on Friday during Routh hall Assembly. Tom King (Minor School Colours) and Femi Oluwole (commended) were rewarded for their commitment to School Basketball. Andrew “Smudge” McIntosh was awarded with his RADA Silver Shakespeare certificate that he has been working hard towards – well done Smudge. Two pupils, Sam Hornsey and Tom King, were presented with their Gold Mathematics Challenge Certificates to demonstrate that we have brains as well as brawn and creativity in our midst. Congratulations to all.
Senior House Cricket
The weather has meant that the playing of the Senior house Cricket competition has been challenging. We “bowled out” against Housman Hall on Friday and unfortunately came second best – never mind lads – better luck in the Athletics on Monday.
Grades
The first summer term grades are published this week. As usual, they will appear on ePortal later on in the week and can be accessed at home.
New Lower Fourth Intake
Prep School pupils have been informed of their House placement this week. Parents of these pupils have been invited to the House this Wednesday evening where they will meet House staff and some of the boys.
Parents vs Staff Golf Match
On Sunday 25th May and Wednesday 28th May, the annual golf match takes place at Droitwich Golf Club. Guests are also welcome. The parents hold the trophy but I’m sure the staff will give them a good run for their money this year! Contact Mr Pickering at cpickering@bromsgrove-school.co.uk if you are interested in playing.
I will publish information on examination leave and Commemoration next week. Don’t forget Sunday 22nd June from 12pm at the pavilion for our Summer Party & cricket match. We will also welcome new pupils with their parents at this event, as well as start saying goodbye to our leavers.
Best wishes,
Paul Greetham
housemaster
Apologies for the slight delay of this week’s news. The cricket season has kicked in which means my usual Saturday morning slot has been disrupted! Back to normal next week!
I sincerely hope you all had a good Easter and holiday if you had one – I know many did (mainly due to the tanned faces I saw before me on Thursday morning in House – they certainly did not get these in the UK!). Along with three boys from the House – David Brookes, Daniel Holles, and Benedict Shinner, I enjoyed a superb visit to India, taking in Taj Mahal, the Golden Temple at Amritsar and the stunning town of Daramsala in the foothills of the Himalayas. A couple of photos will follow of the Lupton contingent on our travels!
We look forward to the summer term ahead. All year groups apart from the Lower Fourth have public examinations to revise for. The Upper Fourth their science modular exams, and of course Fifth Form upwards a significant examination timetable. I do hope that revision programmes were followed over the Easter break, and this continues with vigour over the coming weeks. Practical and oral examinations get underway very soon indeed.
There are a few loose ends to tie up from the end of the Lent Term so here goes.
To sum up at final House Assembly I told the House of a past pupil who the night before performed at Rada, in central London. Here is what I said:
So another busy term beckons. Please do not hesitate to contact your son’s tutor or myself with any questions or concerns over the coming weeks. Parents of Lower Fourth pupils are reminded that there is a parents evening this Tuesday from 6.45pm to 9pm in the Sports Hall, followed by the GCSE course information morning next Saturday 26th April 9am for 9.30am in Routh Hall. All Lupton parents should note that the next PA event is on Monday 5th May following Sports Day at the House – our Summer Barbecue; details to follow.
All the best for the summer ahead.
