Friday 14th December End of Michaelmas Term In our house assembly this morning Path Pippattanasakul (Junior) and Thore Bucking (Senior) were awarded the Endeavour Cups for this term. Very well done to both boys.

 

Congratulations also to Thomas Wong who was announced by the Headmaster in this morning’s final Routh Hall School assembly as the Mathematics prize winner for the best school performance at GCSE in 2007.

 

Jake Burley, Philip Johnson and Thomas Lilley join the Senior 1st Football Team Tour to Barcelona which includes a visit to the Nou Camp Stadium to see a La Lega game. Enjoy!

 

Thursday 13th December Broad Street School Rugby Tournament. Philip Johnson and Martin Hartill played for the Bromsgrove 1st Rugby Team and won the Plate competition. This is one of the most prestigious school Rugby tournaments in the country. A superb achievement for both boys.

 

Wednesday 12th December Fourth Form Assembly. Congratulations to Joshua Bell, Michael Cummings and Michael Smallshaw who received Rugby Commendations today for their commitment and performance this term.

 

10th December Well done to Adam Robertson, Nicholas Wang, Mike Wong and Frank Xie performed in the Christmas Concert; a music gem.

 

Sunday 9th December A great time was had by all at the WG Christmas party. Once again we decided to take the entire House, including tutors, bowling with festive hats, antlers and crackers very much in abundance. A buffet meal followed with plenty of further enjoyment in the games arcade before heading home.

 

 

Congratulations to Paul Diefenhardt who played in Senior U18 team who won West Midlands Indoor Hockey competition this afternoon.

 

Wednesday 5th December Junior Inter-house Competition Debating victory. Well done to our two U4th debaters Prankit Gupta and Adam Robertson who secured the title with an accomplished, intelligent and fluent performance debating against Thomas Cookes House.

 

Tuesday 4th December WG Boys news/achievements. Congratulations to Arsalan Sattari who has been awarded a Bronze Monologue Shakespeare Certificate with Merit by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

 

William Packwood joined us from Boston, New England, in September and spends some of the week with Birmingham City youth academy. This week he plays for the U15 USA National Soccer team in the Nike Friendlies in Florida; we wish him every success.

 

Odin Leung starred (32 points) in our U18 basketball team playing its first match in the local county league. Having lost to a strong South Bromsgrove High School team last season; this was a chance to make amends. They won convincingly.

 

And finally Georgy Chadeneli secured a Gold award in this year Mathematics Challenge with Marco Chan and Anthony Wong both gaining Silver awards. Very well done.

 

Saturday 24th November Junior House Ruby Victory! Wednesday 14th November Junior Interhouse Debating. WG qualify for the final of this year’s competition. Well done to our two U4th debaters Prankit Gupta and Adam Robertson.

 

Sunday 4th November Wendron-Gordon House refurbishments now open. The first 5 single ensuite sixth form rooms to be refurbished and new common room were released today for occupation and use. They are quite superb and very much in keeping with the architecture of our wonderful old building. Phase 2 (another 14 rooms) is due to be completed for the start of Michaelmas term 2008.

 

Friday 19th October Half Term School trips. Good luck to Grady Lam, Lecky Tony and Nelson Wong and who undertake their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s award qualifying expedition in Berwyn Hills, North Wales over half term. Jake Burley and Edward Gaffney join the Biology Field course on the Gower Peninsula and Paul Diefenhardt the Geography trip also in Wales.

 

Thursday 18th October Senior House Rugby preliminary group stage. Well done to our Senior House Rugby side captained by Martin Hartill. The team: Thore Bucking, Jake Burley, Georgy Chaduneli, Friedrich Conrad, Rohil Dattani, Orkhan Hajiev, Philip Johnson, Odin Leung, Tom Lilley, Mike Wong and Ryan Wong qualified for the B Competition semifinals which will be held after half term.

 

Wednesday 17th October House Unison Song competition. Wendron-Gordon House put in a very creditable performance this afternoon singing Shine by Take That. Well done to all the boys. Particular thanks to Tom Lilley (Conductor) and Prankit Gupta (Accompanist). Tom worked especially hard leading the house during the preparations. Thank you and very well done.

 

Saturday 13th – Sunday 14th October Llanwrtyd Wells Celebrations. Several WG boys from the Choir (Nicholas Wang and Frank Xie) and the CCF Marching band (Jamie Birtle, Prankit Gupta and Adam Robertson) attended the presentation of the freedom of the town.
