| HIGHLIGHTS - MICHAELMAS HALF TERM 2008
School term started with a newcomers tea on Sunday 1st September following an induction period for new boarders. Then we welcomed not only sixteen new pupils to the House (a mix of boarding and day pupils) but also two new staff. Among the staff new to the House are Ms Anne Bolger (Mathematics) and Ms Jackie Comley (EAL).
After a few weeks all the new boys appeared to have settled well into the routines of both the House and School, aided in no small measure by existing pupils and the new monitor team of Alex Morris (Head of House), Rupert Waters (Assistant Head of House), Rocky Cheung, Johnny Cheung, Chris Griffiths, James Murray, Phil Tear and Mark Winnett.
Key “House” events of the term so far are detailed as follows. School wide news is detailed in other parts of the website and in the Deputy Headmaster’s weekly email. If by chance you do not receive his email then contact me and I will ensure that it is sent.

October 10th Senior House Swimming
An excellent 4th place was achieved by focussed and determined group of swimmers including Rupert Waters, Adrian Lam, Alex Salmon, Ben Bennett, Michael Cheung, Rob Moreton, Brian Tsang, Harry Perry, Alex Salmon, Johnny Cheung and Phil Tear, who captained the team.

October 13th Junior House Rugby
The House fielded two teams in both the A and B competitions and despite a lack of U15A and U14A squad players those who have represented the School at B and C team level (and even some D team players!) performed with determination and some skill upholding the best traditions of the House. The A team won a notable encounter with Wendron Gordon House and the B team pipped Lupton by two points. Unfortunately our A team lost to Lupton A team in the 3rd/4th play-off. Chris Dodd, Matt Drane, William Cutler, Johnny Corbo, James Douglas-Osborn, Conor Amphlett, Michael Evans, Lewis Martins, Max Gayler, James Lynch, Nikita Aganin, Christian Lau, Oliver Dunn, Nikita Kolomiets, Harland White, Ivan Aganin, Adam Evans, Sam Stiles, Tom Barnes, Josh King, James Lay and James Gillick are all to be commended for their efforts.

October 15th House Song Competition
The whole House performed superbly in the Inter-House Unison Song Competition. The rendition of “Stuck in the Middle with you” was conducted with aplomb by Rocky Cheung with Brian Tsang on piano. The adjudicator commented that the House had a “strong sound” – all are to be congratulated in a fine effort in a competition that resulted in the involvement of every member of the House. However, once again we fell short of winning the competition!

October 16th Senior House Rugby
Not being blessed with any 1st XV players and only a couple of 2nd XV players we once again entered the plate competition. Following victories against Lupton and Housman Hall in the pool games the team captained by Alex Morris beat Lyttelton in a tense final. The following are commended for their efforts :- Alex Morris, Chris Griffiths, Rupert Waters, Mike Wyres, Seb Mills, Dom Roche, Vladimir Kochetkov, Michael Cheung, Alex Ha, Harry Perrey, Oliver Turner, Andy Polychronakis and Igor Tikhturov.

October 16th Junior House Swimming
Fine performances by all saw the juniors, led by Max Gayler, beat WG and Lyttelton into fourth place. The team included Lewis Martins, William Cutler, James Lay, Oliver Dunn. James Douglas-Osborn, Sam Stiles, Harland White, Josh King, Ivan Aganin, Nikita Aganin and Tom Barnes.
