Monday 8th September

The House Song Competition got underway this week with houses finalising their choices with the theme of ‘Songs from the Movies’. Our entry is ‘Perfect Day’ from the film ‘Legally Blond’

Thank you to Sarah Barton and Emma Friend who guided prospective parents this week.

Congratulations to Rachel Dolan who got made up as School Monitor in Friday’s Routh Hall Assembly. We were thrilled to have gained another Mary Windsor School Monitor.

Happy Birthday to Mrs Bentall who celebrated a rather special birthday this week. The girls made a presentation to her of some beautiful flowers and chocolates. Holly Yip also celebrated her 18th Birthday on the weekend.

A number of girls took part in auditions for My Fair Lady. I look forward to their performances later in the year.

The weekend saw trips to the cinema and Alton Towers with large numbers of girls taking part.

Fixtures: The following played for hockey teams on Saturday against Trent College. Hannah Featherstone U14B; Mandy Shum, Vicky Goodwin 3rd XI; Devon Burley, Emma Smith 2nd XI and Marie Bertsch 1st XI

Commendations: Kirstie Friend, Kristina Lyapshina, Helen Lee

Monday 1st September
A big welcome must go to the 36 new girls who have joined the house. Many of them enjoyed a busy few days at the International Induction. We have gained two new tutors; Mr Merrell and Dr Zabierek. A rather unexpected welcome should also go to Laura Brunning our ex head of house who, having got some fantastic A2 results decided to return to Bromsgrove as a Gap Student.

It has been great to see our new monitors get stuck into their roles. They are:
Hayley Johnson – Head of House
Mandy Shum – Deputy Head of House, Head of Music
Charlie Williams - Deputy Head of House, Sports Captain
Danii Crow – Head of Events
Rachel Dolan – Head of White House, Head of Drama and Debating
Sarah Barton – Head of Juniors
Helen Lee – Head of Integration

The week has mostly been spent adjusting to new routines and making new friends. I have been impressed with the way the girls have quickly settled in and come together as a house.

It was Mary Windsor’s Chapel week this week. Kimmy Chak and Cathy Ng read very clearly in the Communion Service and Rachel Dolan read to the whole school in Routh Hall assembly.

Mary Windsor were well represented in the choir at the School Service. They sang beautifully.

Fixtures: The following played for hockey teams on Saturday against Oakham. Hannah Featherstone U14B; Eui Lam, Kristina Lyapshina, Vicky Goodwin 4th XI; Mandy Shum 3rd XI; Devon Burley, Emma Smith 2nd XI and Marie Bertsch 1st XI
