Design and Technology is housed in one of the finest facilities in the country: a £2.5 million centre opened in 1999. Architecturally exciting, this innovative, light spacious building with specialist subject rooms is home to a very rich collection of disciplines: product design, resistant materials, graphic design, jewellery making, furniture making, electronics and systems and control.
Inevitably, by its very nature Design and Technology education changes rapidly, but continuous investment has ensured that the department has remained at the cutting edge. Students have the best technological experiences and are able to carry out authentic tasks which provide them with skills that will prepare them for future careers within any industry. The department has its own ICT teaching suite with a range of high specification computers running the very latest CAD/CAM software. There are 2 design studios for 2D and 3D modelling, a lecture room with the best in audio visual equipment to aid the teaching and learning. There are also 3 workshops one of which is very much to industry standard and houses the latest Computer Numerically Controlled machinery which includes a laser cutter and 3 axis router.
Outstanding examination results, exhibitions at the NEC Design and Technology show and continuous innovation are hallmarks of Bromsgrove Design and Technology
