U13 Boys' Hockey: Quarter-Finals Await
Posted: 23/02/2018
We can all be so proud of the U13A boys' hockey team who beat Bristol Grammar School on penalty flicks in the third round of the Independent Schools' Cup yesterday. Bromsgrove Prep is now one of the last eight schools in England through to the Quarter-Final.
In a pulsating game which saw Bristol race into an early 2-0 lead off two short corners, Bromsgrove rallied back and were level at 2-2 by half time thanks to two goals from centre forward Archie G-H. In the second half, chances came for both sides but neither team could convert, and Henry J in goal deserves special mention for making some superb saves, keeping the team very much in the game which eventually ended 2-2.
Bromsgrove were faced with the penalty flicks to determine who would progress through to the National Quarter-Final. BThe team converted the first one through Louis U while Bristol missed their first. Archie G-H scored the second penalty and William B kept his nerve and scored the decisive winning penalty to take Bromsgrove through. Commiserations to our opponents who had played so well but many congratulations to the boys' team for delivering under pressure.
