Prep Hammer Throwing
Posted: 23/06/2016
This year the Prep School boys have been focusing on getting hammer throwing off the ground and they are now seeing a term’s hard work come to fruition.
On Monday, 20th June the Year 8 boys were in action at the ESAA Midland Final of the National Cup at Tipton Sports Academy. Nhun S and Teddy V both threw superbly to record throws of just under thirty metres which was over five metres further than the previous school record, held by none other than the current 1st XV captain, Alex Nisbet back in 2011.
Nhun’s best throw was 28.32 metres while Teddy was just behind with 27 metres (although he threw 32 metres in training this week).
The event was incorporated into the Sports Day programme this year for the first time and Mr Jones is not aware of any other School which has the hammer on sports day.
Teddy was selected to compete for the District team recently and took part in the Worcestershire County Championships. We look forward to hearing about how the boys progress as they move through the Senior School.
