Marmite Society

On Friday evening, the Gifted and Talented students of The Marmite Society gathered for the final Movie and Pizza Night of 2017, Cake, cats, crusts and company.
The movie in question was a vintage B&W cult classic –
The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951). From the cinematography to the clash of liberal and conservative politics, it showed itself to be worthy of its canonical status. Marmite seminars - from Year 7 to Upper Sixth Oxbridge candidates - continue to consider social change, equality and heirarchy, as represented in The Pantheon, Mary Shelley’s
Frankenstein, Michael Bay’s
Armageddon and the writings of 17th Century proto-feminists. Students are already looking forward to 2018’s eclectic range of discussion, community, funding girls’ education in the developing world and our summer Comic Con.
