500 year old Bromsgrove School did not have a Preparatory section until 1940. It was established, rather bizarrely, in Llanwyrtyd Wells, Wales, while the School was in exile during the Second World War. In 1947, the Preparatory School was in situ at Bromsgrove, and the first purpose built Preparatory School building, Cobham House, was erected in 1958.
Now, looking at progress in the last half century, one finds in addition to the build programme of the 1950’s and 1960’s, a £2 million, 21st century teaching block - Maple House - with dance studio and library; a 1997 sports hall of which most Senior Schools would be proud; the 1991 Llanwyrtyd Centre for Art, Science, Design and ICT; and acres of outdoor sporting facilities worthy of the School’s formidable reputation in this area. Many superb facilities (such as all weather surfaces, a 400 metre running track and the swimming pool) are shared with the adjacent Senior School.
Spacious grounds and outstanding new buildings create a learning environment that respects a child’s desire for space and freedom while igniting and nurturing curiosity.
