From the Art and Design’s beautiful and challenging pieces produced in the Llanwyrtyd Centre to the Dance, Drama and Music performances supported by pupils and parents alike, Performance and Static Art are now philosophically central to the Bromsgrove experience. It’s about flair and personality coupled with a respect for the building blocks of technique and tradition.

The most cursory look at the Llanwyrtyd Centre convinces one immediately that quality in Art and Design is not contingent upon a School insisting on a house style (our children breathe). In Music, all pupils receive timetabled lessons each week and many learn one or more instruments. Opportunities exist for pupils to play and sing solo, as well as in various groups and ensembles.

Drama lessons, which form part of the curriculum in Years 6, 7 and 8, help to instil communication skills and self-confidence, and a new dance studio has enhanced provision enormously. The Drama Department works particularly closely with the English Department to develop pupils' skills in both written and spoken communication following a curriculum that also contains elements of Personal, Health and Social Education. It is the above areas of Bromsgrove life that the most profound moments of understanding, fulfillment and delight often occur.
