Religious Education at the Preparatory School is all about pupils thinking for themselves, developing their own opinions and ideas and engaging in thoughtful and reflective debates and discussions. At the same time we encourage pupils to develop the skills of empathy and sympathy and see the formation of a social conscience as an important dimension to the subject.
Expectations are high and a strong emphasis is placed on the quality of learning, though we do want children to enjoy themselves. We study the religions of the world to learn more about each other and what makes us better human beings. This will, we hope, lead to the creation of a better society and a better world. Our task is an ambitious one; to break down barriers of misunderstanding and mistrust, to remove prejudice and discrimination and to actively engage in a search for truth and meaning. Pupils will be challenged every step of the way and the journey will not be easy but we learn together and we hope that as children in year eight leave for us for the Senior School they will do so as young but mature thinking and responsible human beings. If such a journey excites you why not come and see for yourself.
