Hockey
The U16 team played Trent in the Midlands Final. A poor start left us 1-0 down after 2 minutes. After that we dominated in all areas and eventually the pressure told when Joel Dudley scored from a penalty corner. Near the end of the first half Alex Hollway scored a reverse stick shot, but then a couple of unforced errors allowed Trent to equalise just before the break. Early in the second half we soaked up a lot of pressure but did concede one goal. The score remained 3-2 in Trent’s favour until 5 minutes from the end, where a well worked corner resulted in Joel Dudley scoring again. As the game came to a close, the dreaded penalties loomed. After the first barrage of 5, the score was 4-4. So to sudden death where Aden Symonds and Jack Eastgate calmly scored and with Trent’s next flick, Matthew Cox made an excellent stick save to make us Midlands Champions.

The U14 team also played in the Midlands Final against Trent College. Some fine individual performances could not prevent us from losing 2-0.

On Thursday there were victories for the 15B, 15C, 14A and 14B teams against Cheltenham College and on Saturday we played against Wrekin College – easily our strongest senior opposition in recent times. Without a 1st team victory against Wrekin for at least 5 years the girls knew they were in for a tough match, however, the team pulled together superbly well and produced an outstanding performance to win 28-24, with Cat Allan showing some cool shooting under pressure. There were also excellent victories for the 15A and 14A teams.

Netball
it was a historic weekend for our U19, U16 and U14 teams who represented Worcestershire in the West Midlands' netball finals on Saturday. It was the first time in our history that we have represented the County at all age groups on the same occasion. The U14s enjoyed a major triumph. They won every match in their pool beating King Edward's Camp Hill 10-2, Higham 14-6, Tenbury High 14-1, Wolverhampton Girls' High 13-6, Shrewsbury High School 15-3 and Newcastle under Lyme 5-4. In the semi-final they eased past Ludlow with a 16-4 win and though already having secured a place in the National Finals at Bournemouth on March 15th, they defeated Streetly Sports College 12-8 in the final to be crowned champions. The U19 and U16 teams competed well winning many of their pool matches but narrowly missed out qualifying for the semi-finals in their respective competitions.

Football
With the weather causing havoc amongst most fixtures this weekend, it was pleasing that the 1st and 2nd XI games against King's Worcester went ahead albeit under difficult conditions. The 2nd's game was their debut match in the Mercian Combination League for Independent Schools 2nd XI's and they got off to a winning start with a 4-3 victory, with goals from Tom Lilley, Warren Leung and two from Brian Li.
The 1st XI game once again saw Bromsgrove start slowly in the difficult conditions and they were fortunate to lead 1-0 at half time with a goal from Yujin Kitigawa. The second half saw a much better performance and a penalty from Phil Johnson adding to a good headed goal from Ed Jones allowed them to grab victory and jump to the top of the Mercian Independent Schools League on goal difference.

Football
Last Saturday football fixtures took place against Rugby School. There were some encouraging performances from the U16 teams, whilst the 3rds managed to draw 4-4 and the 2nd XI began their season with a 3-2 victory. The 1st XI match was the opening game in the Crusader Cup Competition, with Bromsgrove looking to repeat their performances of last season where they reached the semi-finals. After going a goal down in the first half, Bromsgrove’s superiority begin to tell and Jack Taft equalised just before half time. The second half was all Bromsgrove but despite creating many opportunities, it appeared the game would head into extra time when, in the final few minutes of play, Ed Jones scored the crucial winner to give the 1st XI a deserved victory.
