A2 Geographers visit Birmingham
On Thursday 24th April, 30 A2 Geographers and 4 teachers braved some rather heavy downpours and embarked on a field trip to Birmingham. In the morning they were given a presentation and walking tour of the Lee Bank and Park Central areas by representatives of Optima, a Housing Association. This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to see redevelopment in action. In the afternoon, pupils looked at urban conservation in the Jewellery Quarter before completing a walking tour of Central Birmingham covering sites such as Millennium Point, the Bull Ring, Symphony Hall and Brindley Place.

India Trip
The first ever school trip to India took place during the Easter holidays.  Led by the Chaplain. 32 students and staff from Prep and Senior schools undertook a ten-day trip visiting  major religious and cultural sites in India.  The exhausting but quite amazing whistle-stop tour included a trek in the Himalayas and a visit to the Taj Mahal,  one of the seven wonders of the world, the temple at Amritsar,  the most holy site for all Sikhs, the Golden Temple and the exiled home of the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala and celebrations of the Holi New Year Festival.  So inspirational was the trip that one student has already planned to return to India during her gap year – in four years time.

Duke of Edinburgh’s  Award
Sixteen pupils travelled to the Yorkshire Dales to take part in either their final expedition for Gold Award or to undertake a training expedition.  Despite tough weather conditions all those undertaking the final expedition passed.
