Ex-changing Room

The school’s second hand uniform shop, Ex-changing Room, is run by volunteers who have children in the school. It aims to sell on good quality, clean, regulation uniform at approximately half the new price. Of this, 25% will be divided between the Senior School and Preparatory School Parents’ Associations and the rest to the supplier.

Where are we?
Ex-changing Room can be found in the Music School building on the Preparatory campus approximately 5 minutes walk from the School shop, or by driving through to the Prep School car park off Old Station Road.

What do we sell?
We sell all current, regulation school and sports clothing, sports footwear, books and equipment listed on the Uniform Lists including items such as kitbags, tuck boxes, trunks, hockey sticks/gloves, cricket bats/helmets/pads, tennis racquets, shin guards and rugby padding/scrum caps. We also keep some ATMA karate suits for the Prep Friday activity session.
We ask that all uniform brought to us is CLEAN and in a saleable condition (we do NOT wash or repair but do have some spare buttons). Anything which is non-regulation, un-saleable (marked or damaged) or which remains in stock over three years will be re-cycled or donated to charity. In particular:
• Shirts/blouses/trousers should be regulation Trutex and in very good condition (please check collars, cuffs, pockets and underarms);
• Trainers, astro/football/rugby boots and athletics/cross-country spikes should be cleaned and have all studs/spikes.

What do you have to do?
All items should be bagged with a label in or securely attached to the bag (individual items do not need to be labelled). Labels must show the name to whom cheques should be made payable and an address to where cheques should be sent (we are unable to make cash payments and cheques will be payable in Sterling). Don’t forget, it sometimes takes a few years before something is sold, and your child may no longer be a pupil at the school. It is also important to inform us of any change of address. If cheques are to be paid to a student we need authority from a parent and the pupil must have a UK bank account. Labelling slips can be obtained from the web site (click on the link below), from Ex-changing Room, or from the School Shop or Prep reception (both of whom are happy to take bagged and labelled items on our behalf).

When are we open?
We are open on the first Saturday of every month during term time from 9.30 am to 12 noon and at other times during the holidays. Dates will be posted in advance on the website (click on the link below) and should also appear in the White Diary. We can also open by appointment in special circumstances. We can only accept payment for uniform by cash or cheque.

How can you help?
Ex-changing Room always needs volunteers. It needn’t take up too much of your time and is an excellent way to meet other parents.
